Site Status: A scoping report has been submitted to the Council. Public exhibitions were held in May 2008.

Key facts about our proposals:

The site is situated near to the junction of the M1 and M18 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

The final site design will depend on the results of environmental studies which are currently being carried out. It will also take into account the responses we receive to the scoping report and responses received at the public exhibitions.

The site design will include a maximum of six turbines, each with a capacity of up to 3.3MW.

The turbines are likely to have a hub height of around 80m and a maximum tip height of 130m.

The turbines could produce up to 20MW of renewable energy, enough for up to 10,000 households (based on a 18MW capacity)

The site lies within one of a few areas in Rotherham district identified by our site finding process as being suitable for wind farm development.

The site would deliver the target for renewable energy generation from onshore wind that Rotherham Council have been set. The target to 2010 is for 11MW of generation, and the target to 2021 is 36MW.

A planning application for the wind farm will be submitted early 2009
