Bickerton Wind Monitoring Mast

Site Status: An appeal against the refusal of the planning application for the wind mast has been upheld by the Planning Inspectorate. The mast will be used to assess and measure the wind resource at the site.
Local Authority: Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council

Our appeal against refusal of planning permission by the local authority was upheld.   We will now proceed to erect the wind mast later this year.

The data gathered from the proposed mast will be used to decide whether or not the location has potential for a wind farm. This process will take approximately six months. If the site is deemed suitable, public consultation and exhibitions will be held at an early stage to ensure that local people can see the detail of any proposal and raise any queries or concerns that they might have. It is unlikely that the  site would be suitable for more than five turbines, even if wind data shows the site to be suitable for such a development

The proposed wind monitoring mast is a slender metal structure up to 60 metres tall, supported by guy wires. Such structures are not visually prominent when viewed from a distance.
