Eco-town opinion goes online
Wednesday 01 October 2008
Local people are being invited to put their views forward on the proposed Cardenden eco-town development via a special online survey.
Hamilton-based developer Banks Developments has created the electronic version of the survey to help gather the maximum amount of feedback possible about their plans, and to ensure local communities can easily express their opinions and ideas about them.
The survey asks residents a range of questions about Cardenden and the surrounding area as it is now, which parts of it they would like to see retained and enhanced, and which facilities they think might be added to improve the overall area.
There is also an open area in which survey respondents can express any opinions or give any idea they have about the proposed eco-town and how it might be designed.
The survey is part of an interactive website launched last month to help keep the local community up-to-date with developments around the eco-town proposals.
Downloadable versions of the project brochure and community engagement strategy have been made available on the site, as well as the latest version of the site masterplan, which will be regularly updated as more details are added.
Siobhan Samson, community engagement coordinator at Banks Developments, says: “We have been carrying out traditional face-to-face surveys, but wanted to make sure we reached as many local people as possible during this important information-gathering process.
“The online survey is very simple to complete, and provides an open forum through which all comments, opinions and ideas can be submitted directly to us.
“The feedback we receive from local residents will be central to the final proposals that we put forward for the Cardenden eco-town – from the responses we received so far, we know that there are many strong opinions about what people see as priority areas for our proposals, and we would now urge everyone to put their thoughts forward.”
Anyone wanting to complete the survey should go to www.banksdevelopments.com/cardenden and click on the ‘Have Your Say’ link. Banks is hoping to submit a planning application for the Cardenden eco-town early next year. Last updated: Wednesday 01 October 2008, 13:54 PM
