Midlands & YorkshireCurborough VillageNear Lichfield and Fradley, South Staffordshire Site Status: Application awaiting determination Local Authority: Lichfield District Council The Banks Group, Gleeson Homes, Hallam Land Management and Redrow Homes make up the Curborough Consortium. The Consortium is promoting proposals for a new village between Lichfield and Fradley in South Staffordshire. There is a need to protect Lichfield and its unique character from excessive development in the future. The Curborough proposal would do that and provide new houses close to a major source of employment on Fradley airfield which already provides 3,000 jobs and is expected to provide another 3,000 jobs in the future. A planning application for a new settlement at Curborough was submitted to Lichfield District council in March 2008. The application proposes 5,000 dwellings and an accompanying range of facilities, together with improvements to the area’s transport infrastructure. Full details can be found on the website of the Curborough Consortium (www.curborough.org).
