Clydesdale Village

Former Clydesdale Steelworks,
Holytown, North Lanarkshire
Site Status: House builders on site, further land remediation to take place
Local Authority: North Lanarkshire Council

In December 2004 the local authority was minded-to-grant planning consent for the reclamation of the 61 acre former Clydesdale steelworks. The land has been blighted by heavy industry and undermining. This project provides the opportunity to regenerate this area through the provision of new homes and public open space.

The concept for Clydesdale Village is the development of a sustainable range of 600 homes, varying in size from two bedroom flats to detached family homes and recreational areas.

The village concept offers scope to extend the development of the project into other adjacent industrial land (40 acres).
Due to current market conditions further land remediation on the site is currently on hold.  Banks has put in place a comprehensive site works suspension plan. This plan will ensure that appropriate health & safety and environmental protection measures are in place. We will continue to inspect the site on a regular basis.
