Westburn regeneration scheme

Newton Village, South Lanarkshire
Site Status: House builders on site
Local Authority: South Lanarkshire Council

A 29 Acre derelict former steelworks site at Westburn Village near Glasgow is being transformed by Banks to provide land to develop 225 new houses. Prior to development, this site lay derelict. It was contaminated by industrial waste, contained massive concrete foundations and was littered by fly-tipping.

Banks has obtained the necessary planning consents and devised an in-situ remediation strategy, together with road access, infrastructure and landscaping to render the site suitable for residential development. This work has been completed with the first phase of land sold to Wimpey Homes who have commenced construction of the first houses. The second phase has been sold to Dundas Estates Ltd.
