Kinderton Lodge Waste Management Project

The Banks Group is pursuing a project at Kinderton Lodge, near Middlewich in Cheshire, which involves:
  • Clay extraction for civil engineering purposes including the reclamation of derelict land
  • Waste recycling and composting
  • Disposal of wastes which are not recycled, in the void created by clay extraction
  • Restoration to a variety of new habitats including species rich hay meadows, parkland, woodland, ponds and a new public right of way.
  • The production of renewable energy from the conversion of landfill gas to electricity to be used by householders and industry via the national grid.
The site was allocated in the Waste Local Plan adopted by Cheshire County Council in June 2007 and planning permission for the site was granted in September 2007.

Clay extraction is expected to commence in 2009 followed by importation of waste.
